Khartoum, (sudanow) - Carlo De Filippi, Ambassador and Head of the European Union Delegation to Sudan, has commended the development of health services in the Sudan as he signed an agreement to provide health services for his staff in the country, a press statement by the EU indicated.

Ambassador Carlo De Filippi, Head of the European Union Delegation to Sudan and Ms. Khansa Suleiman Fedail, Vice President of Fedail Hospital signed an agreement to provide medical services to the delegation Staff at Fedail Hospital in Sudan, the statement said.   

"This agreement is an important step for the EU who wants to avoid as many medical evacuations as possible". Ambassador Carlo de Filippi said, adding that “This agreement indicates that health services in Sudan are improving and it is good to have European standard hospitals in Sudan ". 

The Ambassador added that Fedail Hospital was selected because of its impressive working record, up to date equipment and qualified cadres and its doctors who are certified internationally. The ambassador said it is appropriate now to treat the European staff at this Sudanese Hospital.

The ambassador also confirmed that the EU is hoping that more Sudanese hospitals could provide excellent medical services and provides comprehensive and efficient global service standards at affordable price. 

Ms. Khansa Suleiman Fedail, Vice-President of the Hospital commented that Fedail Hospital will continue to work hard to achieve better medical services to provide treatment by modern methods through the experience of its Sudanese doctors.

Fedail Hospital was established in 2003 and it employs 110 doctors and the hospital has 18 fully equipped sections that provide treatment to many medical diseases.  9000 patients are treated annually at the hospital and 99% is the proportion of successful operations where modern devices are introduced.
